He started as a resident of Urology department at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2008, just after he finished medical education at same institution in the same year. He visited to Cleveland Clinic as an observer of Urooncology and Robotic Surgery under the supervision of Prof. Jihad Kaouk and Prof. Robert Stein in 2011. His graduation thesis was a translational research on metastatic RCC (PMID:25515319). He has been working at academic position in the same institution since February 2016. At the beginning of 2021, in collaboration with Prof. Faruk Ozcan (head) and Prof. Oner Sanli, he founded Urologic Oncology Division of his department, which is also the first in the country. Dr. Erdem was elected as a member of European Association of Urology Young Academic Urologists (EAU-YAU)-Renal Cancer Working Group at October 2018. He has contributed several scientific works under EAU-YAU umbrella, and is still working on the projects of EAU-YAU Renal Cancer Working Group, as being primary investigator or collaborator.
